woohoo!

it's actually going to happen, icasa is granting the sno a license this friday.

alas, it looks like it'll only be able to start offering services in mid-2006. in the light of this latest info i'm seriously hoping that affordable, uncapped broadband will finally become a reality...

well it's not a very informative article... i'm sure branson wouldn't go into a venture without knowing the score. and it is pretty common knowledge that cell c is piggy-backing on vodacom.

maybe they're planning on not piggy-backing on vodacom anymore? ultimately if they could have their own infrastructure they really could have their own prices and compete much better than they are right now...

Interesting Sarah... let's see what Branson will do. I'm pretty MTN-loyal, it'd take a lot to sway me.

I have to laugh though, because it's my understanding that Cell C's still piggy-backing off Vodacom's network-infrastructure... and now they launching a new venture?

warrenski, did you see this?

i really like this part:
... a refreshing alternative from the bland offerings of other players

Yeah good news that, holding thumbs!

i know cell c was introduced a while back and only recently is there any resemblance of a 'price war' between all the providers. it's not like their prices are a 'great' benefit to the subscribers right now but i think it'll eventually get there.

regarding the second national operator:
i doubt they'll start with a bang. the article gives me that impression too. it looks like businesses will reap the benefits before private users will. but i still have hope... and i hope it happens faster than everyone anticipates!

I'm hopeful too, but that's kind of what we all expected when they introduced Cell C. We're still paying craploads for cellphone calls. I'm not holding my breathe :)
